Abstract

At first, a statistical study has been carried out on the evolution of these categories of employees in the transport sector, during the 1997 to 2006 period and their situation in 2006. The analysis included a comparison to other categories of salaried employees and specifically managers and professionals in overall sectors. The results are presented in the first part of this report. Secondly, a qualitative study by questionnaires has been conducted with managers and professionals, members of ETF, in order to understand their working conditions, their responsibilities, the field of their social responsibilities, their autonomy, the problems encountered, the development of discrimination, the relation with their employers and subordinates, the best practice of management and their mechanisms, the managers’ and professionals’ opinions and their needs in the relations with trade unions. These results are presented in the second part of this report.
